Work is sweat on a brow, a wrinkled forehead, or callused hands. The weeds at my feet, allowing onions to grow unimpeded. Work is etched in the dust on the face of one laboring. Work is the product of my efforts in an art studio, the wood chips on my floor, the sore spots on my fingers, a smear of black on my face. Work is the wear on a chisel handle, black dust coloring each to reflect the amount of wood it has gouged. Work is paper, it's ink, it's image, it's context. Work is the message, a reason, and a thing that gives us purpose or defines who we are.
