I reference two things in this installation, language or communication and the international border between the U.S. and Mexico. Along the land border, there are 276 iron monuments marking the separation of our two countries erected in the 1890's by Mexican and U.S. survey teams. I see the border as a space of separation and commonality simultaneously, and though a phrase can be translated, it can mean different things to those who interpret it.
